What kind of computer should I use to access the Internet?

It really all depends on what you want to do. If you are content with the command-line world of UNIX/DOS, then any old machine will suffice. However, to access today's modern world of graphical operating systems, you will need a bit faster of a machine. We suggest buying an IBM-compatible PC, simply because the support available for them is much more comprehensive. The following is a description of hardware we would suggest.

Processor: Pentium II 300mhz or better
Memory: 64MB SDRAM
Audio: 16-bit Sound Blaster or compatible
Video: 4MB AGP Graphics Card (800x600x64k Resolution minimum)
Hard Drive: 3GB IDE
CD-ROM: 32X or greater
Modem: US Robotics 56k V.90 Sportster
OS: Windows 98, Windows 2000 Professional, or Red Hat Linux
